lovely refurbished hotel
recent refurbishment friendly staff warm pool clean rooms
the hotel has been recently refurbished tastefully. the staff were all friendly. breakfasts are delicious and portions are very large. the swimming pool was warm and clean. rooms are immaculate, comfortable, and nicely furnished. there is ample parking near reception.

Reception staff dealt with all requests effectively. housekeeping was very good. They paid attention to detail, and the provision of tea, coffee, and towels was excellent. staff are attentive and pleasant.

The hotel is well located at the very southern edge of town. This makes it easy to find. it is great for exploring both the central lake district and the south lakes. the pool is very good.

spacious room huge bed friendly staff basic bar expensive drinks missing phone
the room was spacious (i stayed in a superior king room!), and the bed was huge. the bathroom was modern and included soaps. the staff was friendly and always smiling.
the bar area felt basic and was adjoined to the dining area. the drinks were expensive, i thought, especially since there was no real ale available. my room lacked a phone.

warm room poor fan
the breakfast was good, i suppose.
the room was excessively warm, even with the window open. a fan was provided, but all it did was circulate the hot air. it hardly made for a restful night, did it?

great pressure coffee service comfortable seating
The shower in the Standard Double Room had great water pressure. I appreciated that there was tea and coffee in the room. The bar area provided comfortable seating after a long day, the area felt cozy.
I noticed only one minor issue. The gym equipment seemed a little dated.

themed mugs good meal
My room had lovely Cumbrian themed tea and coffee mugs. I thought that was a nice touch. Breakfast and the evening meal were quite good. The pool was a nice amenity too. I enjoyed it.
The decor seemed dated and blue with yellow, not my style. I found some mould around the window frames. It was not extensive though.
